The popular resale platform has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Reaction Countless users and merchants are posting online stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration. The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Measurement Approach Changes Previously, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The revised method features a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18. Member Experiences A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22. "If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she stated. Required Changes Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said. Marketplace Information The platform boasts over 100 million members, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
